Pregnancy Test

December 20, 2019. This may not be a memorable day to most people but to me it is the day I took a pregnancy test that came back positive. This is the day that absolutely changed my life. Here you will find information that I found useful about taking a pregnancy test for the first time.

Do all pregnancy tests work?

The simple answer to this question is YES. All pregnancy test’s do work as they are up to 99% accurate. The key to get the best results is taking them at the right time and following the instructions. Pregnancy test’s detect HCG levels in your urine. HCG can be detected around the 11th day after conception but will more than likely not show up on an urine test until around the 12th to 15th day. The HCG levels will double every 72 hours, so the longer you wait after a missed period the more accurate results you will get.

Recommended Brands

Like I said, all pregnancy tests are proven to be up to 99% accurate. I recommend getting the brand that suites you best. Some tests you urinate directly on the test and wait a few minutes to get the results and other tests have you urinate in a cup and place the test in the urine sample. Some tests have easy grip and others don’t. The test I choose to use was ClearBlue.

  • Only Pregnancy Test with Smart Countdown to Result
  • The Only pregnancy test with Smart Countdown, reassuring you the test is working as it counts down to your results
  • Over 99% accurate** at detecting pregnancy from the day of your expected period
  • The ‘no mess’ wide absorbent tip and integrated Floodguard Technology helps reduce the #1 reported cause of user error to make testing easier
  • The digital display uses Words for results, taking away the confusion of interpreting lines at an emotional time

When should I take a test?

You will get the best results AFTER a missed period and taking the test first thing in the morning. If you get a false negative (where you are pregnant but the result is negative) it’s more than likely because you took the test too early. Some test’s say they can detect pregnancy up to 5 days before your missed period and that is true. All women are different so results may not be as accurate for you as it may be for someone else who is taking a test before their missed period.

Steps to take after positive results

Your test came back positive! You are having a baby!

Hopefully you have already started taking prenatal vitamins but if not it is okay. It is very important to get you some as soon as you can because these vitamins have folic acid in them that is very important for your baby’s growth and health. There are many brands out there and your doctor may have you choose a different one to fit you better but I recommend One a Day. So far I have been taken One A Day and the pills are horse pills but luckily I don’t have a hard time swallowing them. If you do have a hard time with big pills then I recommend getting the chewable vitamins by Vitafusion.

Call your doctor and schedule an appointment to confirm your pregnancy!
